THERE is something about Durham which draws Mrs E and I back time after time.
This has surely got to be one of the smallest cities in the UK yet it has almost everything you could ask for.
Apart from the obvious attractions of the Cathedral and Castle there are plenty of good shops for Mrs E to spend my hard-earned cash in.
There are some lovely walks around the riverside and whenever you feel like a spot of culture there is the Gala theatre and cinema. The only problem Mrs E and I have with Durham is that we are running out of places to scran. That’s why when we heard about one of its newest restaurants we decided to give it a go.
The Fallen Angel sits in an old converted building just a stone’s throw away from the Crown Court building.
It is also a boutique hotel and is trying to establish a bit of a name for itself. I was pleased to see pictures of some icons on the walls of the reception area including Sir Winston Churchill – a man who arguably saved this great nation when it was most vulnerable.
As She Who Must Be Fed and I were led to the dining room, I could only hope the food would be just as inspirational.
