LAST week, as readers may remember Mrs Eats was banging on about her weight.

And it seems seven days on, nothing much has changed – except this week the spelling has changed and the buzz word is “wait”. Wait, preceded by the word “long”.

Yet again, our quest to find the perfect Sunday lunch has taken a turn for the worse and to be quite frank, I’m a bit fed up.

Last week we were sure we’d stumbled upon something good when we spotted The Magic Lantern in Tynemouth, North Tyneside. We’d passed it on the way to the coast earlier that morning, and headed back there at about 1.30pm.

Although busy, there were a handful of available tables so we grabbed one in a quiet area – it’s one of those pubs with a kids’ play area, so we chose a spot which was a little quieter so we didn’t have to contend with screaming babies as we dined.

One glance at the menu and we were won over. Two-for-one is offered on all main meals every day, including Sunday lunch. Even better, it also applies to the two-course Sunday lunch, where you get to choose two roasts and two desserts for just £12.90.

The menu also states: “We are so proud of our Sunday roast, we serve it all weekend.” A good thing if ever we’d heard one, so we wasted no time in choosing the two courses.
