Ken’s return

IF you thought Ken Stott could never play another copper after his blistering turn in the Messiah dramas, think again.

He stepped willingly into the shoes of original star John Hannah to portray author Ian Rankin’s celebrated detective, Rebus.

And there are many fans of the long-running literary series who are happy to concede he does a fine job to boot.

In this adaptation of the novel Strip Jack, Rebus is reluctantly roped into a bust on a brothel, where prominent MP Gregor Jack is found. The ensuing media frenzy threatens to turn ugly when the politician’s wife is found dead. Sure enough, it falls to Rebus to sift through the tangled web of lies. Old secrets and rivalries are slowly brought to the surface as the dogged copper launches an investigation.
