PUCKER up for the latest products paying us more than just lip service.
Clinique’s new high-impact lip colour SPF 15 is a sophisticated lipstick delivering superior colour and moisturisation. It’s what you might call a multi-tasker, as it moisturises, is long-wearing and gives effective protection from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays too.
It’s also allergy tested and 100 per cent fragrance free, so there are no worries if you have sensitive smoochers. The £12 lipsticks come in 20 summery shades under four colour categories — nude, tawny, pink and violet — with something to suit all complexions. Available from Clinique counters — PAULINE HOLT
I CAN honestly say I would never leave the house without some kind of lip gloss in my handbag. They’re a great alternative to traditional lippies and make it look as though you’ve made an effort, without really trying.
So I was particularly pleased by Bourjois’ new range, “eau de gloss cosmic”. It comes in three subtle shades and, not only is it an easy-to-apply gloss that leaves a slick but non-sticky feel, it also has tiny glittery pieces which make your lips shimmer. What’s more, it smells lovely, too.
The only downside is that it says it moisturises your lips for four hours, which is a slight exaggeration. I found I had to re-apply much more frequently . . . and there’s no way it would still be in place after a drink! The cosmic gloss costs £7.25 — NICOLA JUNCAR
URBAN DECAY’S autumn range of lipsticks looks more like a weapon with it’s mini gun-metal dagger built into the case’s design . . . but, as the makers assure us, it’s just a “weapon of love”.
Daggers aside, the lipsticks themselves are pretty good. The range consists of 17 colours, from crimson reds and exotic fuchsias all bursting with nourishing creams, high shines and shimmer effects that glide on easily.
I’d love to know how they come up with the dubious names for some of the colours, such as Jailbait and Buzzkill. Has Freddy Kreuger got a new job we don’t know about?
RUBY & MILLIE’S range of lipsticks are clearly designed to make a statement with bold and to-the-point colour names such as Pink and Red. I plumped for Nude . . . a far more natural offering that comes in a gorgeous silver tube. The colour smoothed on easily and lasted for several hours, making it well worth the £10.50 price tag.
R&M have also brought out a handy Complete Lip Kit, comprising a three-tiered stacking compact of smooth, scrub and plump treatments, along with three sheer glosses and mini applicators, priced £12 — COREENA FORD
