THE PRIESTS is the story of three Roman Catholic fathers who became top of the pops.

But, as revealed in a new documentary, their success came with temptation. The trio turned down a £3m offer to tour America because it would have affected their day jobs as parish priests in Northern Ireland.

Father Eugene O’Hagan said: “One of my parishioners said to me, ‘Father were you not tempted?’.

“I said, ‘Well, yes, we can all be tempted, especially with a price like that on it’.”

“But as I said to her, I’m in the business of telling people to resist temptation and I’m afraid we had to resist this.”
