COMEBACK king movie star Mickey Rourke will voice the prominent role of the irreverent, battle-tested Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko, a real-life Navy SEAL and founder of the elite SEAL Team 6, in the new Rogue Warrior game, due for release later this year.
Rourke has appeared in numerous well-known films over the years, including Rumble Fish, Nine and a Half Weeks and Sin City. He was recently nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his roles as Randy The Ram in The Wrestler.
Rogue Warrior was inspired by Marcinko’s New York Times bestseller of the same name and his subsequent novels based loosely on his own past military experiences.
Playing as Marcinko, you are sent on a clandestine operation to disrupt a suspected North Korean ballistic missile program.
Soon into the mission, you uncover a conspiracy and must covertly enter the USSR to destroy a technology that could change the balance of geopolitical power, leaving a trail of destruction in your wake.
Rogue Warrior is currently under development for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Release dates yet to be announced.
The makers behind the successful STALKER series of games, GSC Game World, have announced a new project in the series. STALKER: Call of Pripyat will become the third standalone game in the highly-acclaimed Survival first person shooter games.
The events of STALKER: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl.
Having discovered about the open path to the Zone centre, the government decides to hold a large-scale military operation.
According to the operation’s plan, the first military group is to conduct an air scouting of the territory to map out the detailed layouts of anomalous fields location. Thereafter, making use of the maps, the main military forces are to be dispatched. Despite thorough preparations, the operation fails. From now on everything depends on the player.
The new game will feature photo-realistic exclusion zones such as Pripyat town, Yanov railway station, Jupiter factory and Kopachi village and more, recreated by their true-to-life prototypes.
There will be an improved and extended system of side quests as well as scores of new monsters. Following a survey of fans the game will also feature a new A-Life system, created using the players’ best-liked elements of the first two games.
The project is slated for release in the autumn.
