This purpose-built outdoor facility provides a perfect environment for our captive-bred colony of harbour seals.

The naturally-themed 600,000-litre pool includes rocky haul out areas and underwater caves along with a whole host of other environmental enrichment features to ensure these curious and highly intelligent marine mammals are kept in near natural conditions.

Giant viewing panels and a ramped walkway provide visitors with an unrivalled opportunity to admire their grace and agility from both above and below the waterline.

WIN GATESHEAD SUMMER FLOWER SHOW TICKETS

There is something for all the family at the Gateshead Summer Flower Show at Gateshead Central Nursery, Lobley Hill on Friday, August 1, Saturday August 2 and Sunday August 3. Your Sunday Sun has 20 pairs of tickets to give away, which can be used on any day of the show!

This year’s show offers everything for the garden and more, with over 300,000 sqft of show attractions.

Show features include a huge craft fair, speciality food marquee, society and floral art marquee and trade stands both inside and out with lots to see and buy.

From fantastic displays of summer blooms to hundreds of handicrafts, live entertainment to amateur exhibits, demonstrations to children’s activities and a continental market, this really is a great day out for all the family.

The Theatre Marquee will play host to a range of both musical and theatrical shows, keeping you entertained throughout the day.   Make sure you don’t miss the wonderful interpretation of Aesop’s Fables.  All this and much much more.

A free park and ride will operate every 15 minutes from MetroCentre Coach Park on all three days of the show and from Gateshead Civic Centre on the Saturday and Sunday only.  On-site parking costs £3.

Entry to the show is free to under 18s, £7 for adults and £5 for over-60s.  The show is open from 10am to 5.30pm each day.
