HEADY HEADY

FOR blokes still resisting the pull of men’s groomy stuff on the grounds that it’s all a bit suspect and they don’t want to smell like a 1970s hairdresser, help is at hand.

Not only does this new range have a hard-as-nails name — Bulldog — it also has a signature scent that is anything but flowery.

Their mix of cedarwood and patchouli creates a distinctive earthy, woodland smell that is very macho . . . think lumberjacks meet Heavy Metal.

You’ll either love or hate it but, personally, I prefer it to the sickly sweet stink guys’ lotions and potions usually have.

Most importantly, it all does exactly what it says on the tin/tube/bottle. The shaving gel, in particular, went on smoothly without any of the inbetween-the-fingers mess created by some gels as you lather up.

There’s also a regular moisturiser, £5.99 for 100ml, a sensitive moisturiser with green tea and green algae at £5.99 for 100ml, face scrub, £4.99 for 100ml, sensitive face wash, 100ml for £4.99, lemon and bergamot shower gel, £2.99 for 200ml, and a post shave balm at £4.99 for 100ml.

Whether you’re new to the whole metrosexual malarkey or you’re a seasoned balm botherer, Bulldog’s range will sit nicely on your smellies shelf.

LUSH have become a household name for girlie bath and cosmetic ranges, but they also sell fabulous products for lads too.

All the products have passed tests to prove they’re friendly to the environment and they’re handmade from fresh ingredients and come with tell-it-like-it-is descriptions and packaging.

Top of the shopping list for boys is Ocean Salt. This cream-based facial scrub is made from both coarse and finer sea salts, which stimulate the skin and remove surface dead cells.

If the effect of the scrub doesn’t wake you up, the invigorating smell of fresh lime crushed in vodka to wash away excess oils on the skin, and fresh grapefruit infusion certainly will.

The Ice Blue soap has a blend of refreshing essentials oils of sweet wild orange, bergamot and peppermint to create a stimulating experience.

Cosmetic Lad is Lush’s gentle, soothing multi-purpose moisturiser, which acts as after sun, shave balm, moisturiser and even a hair cream.

It cools sunburned skin with softeners such as shea butter and cocoa butter, along with soothing aloe vera gel.

Lastly, there’s Seanik, the solid shampoo bar, made with two kinds of softening seaweed, nori and Irish moss.

Ocean Salt facial scrub, £5.95 for 120g, £10.95 for 250g, Ice Blue soap, £2.50 for 100g, Cosmetic Lad facial moisturiser, £10

Seanik solid shampoo bar, £4.50.
