ARE you a top knitter, or are your kids or grandchildren just starting to learn? If so, Origins, has a Christmas challenge for you.
They’re calling on us all to take up needles and knit a mini scarf for homeless charity Shelter.
Choose your favourite Yuletide themed yarn — the brighter the better — and use any type or thickness of yarn but, for double knitting yarn, use 4mm needles. Cast on four stitches and knit 40 rows, or around 25cm (10in) before casting off.
You can make your scarf stand out by adding a personal touch such as glitter, tassels or patterns. Once your scarf is ready, post it to Origins Ginger Knits, 73 Grosvenor Street, London, W1K 3BQ. The deadline is November 20.
Then look out for your scarf gracing bottles of Origins Ginger Essence at your nearest Origins counter from December 1.
Ginger Essence Sensuous skin scent will really ginger you up this season and costs £24.50 for 50ml or £32.50 for 100ml and, for each Ginger Essence bottle sold, Origins will donate £1 to Shelter.
There are Origins counters at John Lewis, Newcastle, Debenhams and House of Fraser at the MetroCentre, Gateshead, and the Spurriergate branch of Boots in York. Visit www.origins.co.uk for more details.
And, if you log on to the website on Sunday, December 14, you could win one of seven “scarved-up” skin scents designed by top names such as Bruce Oldfield, Paul Costello and Alice Temperley through a silent auction, again in aid of Shelter.
STILL on a charitable theme, you’d better watch out because Pudsey’s about!
Yes, it’s the BBC’s annual Children in Need night this Friday and, if you’re looking for that special prize to boost your fundraising efforts or would just like to support the campaign, Boots have a couple of beauty items that should fit the bill exactly.
Hug is a special edition fragrance that comes in his and hers bottles. For her, there’s an eau de toilette that has a subtle, sweet, freshly-bathed scent that will “envelope the wearer like a warm towel after bathtime”, while the male fragrance is musky and spicy with sweet woody notes.
Both bottles feature a little pendant Pudsey and cost £10 each, with £3.50 donated to Children in Need.
LITTLE girls will love Nailene’s new nail art kits, each containing four sheets of nail art stickers which include rhinestones, pearls, butterflies and flowers. They’re great for grown-up girls too and will add pizzazz to your party look.
Simply press the stickers onto your natural nails and, for lasting wear, apply a top coat of clear nail polish. Nailene Bedazzle Rhinestone Nail Art is available from Asda and Boots, priced £4.99 and are great for Christmas stockings.
