Teenager charged with manslaughter over Tyneside death

A 19-YEAR-old man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man outside a pub.

Michael Francis, 19, of Stocksfield Avenue, Newcastle, was also charged with grievous bodily harm, affray and the possession of a noxious liquid.

He will appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

Earlier it was revealed that victim Christopher McGuire, 33, of Ash Avenue, Dinnington, Newcastle, died from stomach injuries after he was beaten up and knocked over by a car outside the Bay Horse Pub in Dinnington, on Monday at around 10.40pm.

Mr McGuire, an electrician, also suffered serious head injuries and died in Newcastle General Hospital after the attack.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and a 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They have been bailed as the investigation continues.

Flowers were left by Mr McGuire’s heartbroken family near to where he was attacked on North View. One said: "To a wonderful son who will be sadly missed" and another: "To a great brother who will be sadly missed."
