WE at eaga are absolutely delighted to sponsor this year’s Sunday Sun Champions of the North Campaign.
The award event on Thursday promised to be an extremely special night . . . and it proved to be a huge success.
I would like to say a big “thank you” to all those Champions who were nominated and who do so much to improve the lives of those in their communities.
We have been reading about their incredible bravery, community work or caring qualities in the Sunday Sun over the past few months.
The campaign is a great one for eaga to be involved in because our business is all about making a positive difference in local communities all over the country.
What’s more, as a North East company, we’re extremely proud to have been involved with a campaign like this, because it really does celebrate the very best of our region.
The community spirit, generosity and warmth we have seen throughout these nominations, are nowhere better highlighted than here in the North East.
I’m biased, but I sometimes feel that we in this region know and understand the most important parts of community better than anywhere else . . . and nowhere better is that demonstrated than in the flood of entrants and nominees from this Champions of the North campaign.
It’s all too often said at events like these that everyone’s a winner, but I think I’m on safe ground when I say that all the nominees are winners.
Some people will have left the ceremony with trophies, but everyone should leave knowing they do a great deal to contribute to society.
It’s easy sometimes to underplay the contributions that we can all make to our communities, or to forget that each of us has the chance, every day, to make a difference.
Just reflecting on the examples set by our Champions of the North should prove to all of us that we have that chance every day
