SMILING assassin Hazel Blears now says she “enormously regrets” the timing of her resignation, insisting she had no intention of trying to destabilise Gordon Brown.
So she wasn’t attempting to hit back at Brown even though he publicly criticised her, describing her failure to pay Capital Gains Tax on her second home as totally unacceptable.
And she didn’t decided to jump before she was pushed after rumours the PM was about to drop her from the Cabinet.
She wasn’t even miffed that his remarks gave her no alternative but to hold that rictus smile for the cameras as she paid back £13,000 to the taxman.
The reasons for her departure were personal and nothing to do with any of the above. Of course not.
