Squirrel army could march on its stomach

HERE’S a subject close to my heart . . . and my stomach.

Yesterday saw the start of the first Great North Squirrel Quest, where the public are asked to help determine tree rat populations in our region.

Apparently it’s all to do with the battle between bad squirrels — grey, American, aggressive — and good squirrels . . . red, British, passive.

One is driving out the other, with the Americans getting all gung-ho over their Brit cousins.

The campaign seeks to fight for the red corner, but I’m not sure counting the animals will do much good.

The real answer? Let’s just say the internet is full of squirrel recipes.

But remember . . . you can only eat greys!
