GOT the beer, the comfy armchair, and the remote control within reaching distance?
Then you’re ready, my friend, for the World Cup 2010.
It’s just what we need right now with the uncertain economic situation and the threat of more job losses.
So sit back and enjoy.
No one can blame you for a few late starts or even a sickie when the goodwill is flowing like lager.
There are no losers here.
Blokes get their football, wives get the blokes out of their hair for a bit, and everyone goes around with a smile on their faces.
We might even get a free education between matches. Television and radio schedules are full of fascinating snippets about the host nation.

Apartheid may be gone but South Africa is still a nation, even if a Rainbow Nation, with more than its share of problems.
It is, apparently, the most protest-rich country in the world with most of the demonstrations coming from the shanty towns.
Almost one in three pregnant women are infected with AIDS, unemployment is high, and there is a big gap between rich and poor.
Enjoy the football, by all means, but spare a thought for the injustices hidden behind the stadia.
