I’M not drunk, m’lud, it’s just in the genes.
I had to laugh when I learned that a gene that helps drink go to your head has been discovered by scientists.
The gene apparently provides coded instructions for making an enzyme that breaks down alcohol.
That’s all a bit geeky for me but, if I have got it right, it means certain people have genes that makes them drunk quicker than the rest of us.
It is, so I have been told, nature’s way of protecting against the effects of alcoholism.
Now that’s what I call a cheap night out when one or two drinks is classed as a binge!
And a great excuse when you have to appear before the magistrates in the morning.
