That’s a bit rich Bish!

WOULDN’T it be refreshing if Doctor Rowan Williams could lead himself not into temptation? Trouble is, the outspoken Archbishop of Canterbury just can’t resist meddling in politics.

This week, he described the credit crunch as payback time for society’s “unsustainable greed”. Britain should get back to “making things” he said, rather than “relying on financial speculation to generate wealth”.

That’s rich! Has he forgotten the Church of England is one of the UK’s largest property owners with assets of around £6bn? If that isn’t financial speculation, I don’t know what is. And what “things” does the church make, exactly?
