THERE’S probably a paragraph somewhere in a management handbook that stresses the importance of taking staff concerns seriously, however ridiculous they might seem.
If so, I suspect Debbie Butler — a senior manager at the Royal Derby Hospital — has not only read it, but memorised it word for word.
Why else would she call in an exorcist to rid the building of a ghost?
Staff at the new £334m hospital claim to have seen spooky images of a cloaked figure stalking the wards, which they believe is the ghost of a Roman soldier killed on the site.
Surely, someone is having a laugh at Debbie’s expense. Worryingly, it might also be at our expense.
How much will this exorcism cost the NHS, I wonder?
