Was this girl ever a real soldier?

I’VE no doubt Kerry Fletcher, the lesbian ex-soldier awarded £187,000 damages for sexual harassment, had a thoroughly miserable time at work.

It can’t have been pleasant receiving explicit texts from a knucklehead sergeant who presumably imagined he could “cure” her sexual orientation.

But was her misery really worth so much? Ms Fletcher’s payment outstrips that of many soldiers who were maimed in the war zone.

She argues that there is no comparison between lost limbs and hurt feelings. Too bloody right there’s not.

No amount of cash can compensate someone for the loss of their mobility. But, unlike lost limbs, feelings can heal.

What’s more, such payments only fuel the compensation culture and encourage others to make far more spurious claims, presumably with the help of all-too-willing lawyers.
