THANK you to those who sent good wishes after I was named best presenter at the Royal Television Society awards for the North East and Borders.
I was there to present an award, not actually win one, so it was a great surprise.
The evening began in less than spectacular style. I was running late after getting lost during a two-hour walk with the dog and then fell UP the stairs upon arriving at Sage Gateshead. Embarrassingly I grabbed my boss’s legs as I helplessly tried to cushion my fall.
I faced some strong, talented competition and it was an absolute pleasure to beat rivals on that other channel.
The award caps an exciting year which saw me take on the weather mantle at ITV Tyne Tees and Border and present national weather forecasts at GMTV.
Being recognised by the industry is a huge compliment . . . I must be doing something right.
