WHEN is a year not a year? When British Gas carry out an annual inspection on John Brown’s heating system.
John pays an annual fee for the company to maintain his system. But an increasing gap between services meant he missed the equivalent of a full year.
John, of Crook, County Durham, said: “It was done in May 1996, June 1997, December 1998 and so on.”
No service at all was carried out last year.
A spokesman for British Gas admitted: “This is the first time since the agreement was set up that no inspection has been completed in the agreement term.”
A date was fixed for the service to be carried out and John, 84, was given £30 compensation.
