I DON’T like sitting on the fence, so I will come down on one side in John Lindsay’s dispute with builder Charles Church... John’s.
I revealed in February how the company promised to consider building a fence to disguise a building site left undeveloped. It was the latest in a series of promises to smarten up the site.
Local resident John said the development near Ferens Park, Durham, had been left an eyesore for years after work stopped.
Now, almost two months after my story, it is still an eyesore . . . and there is still no fence. At the time, a spokesman for the builders said: “We are in discussion about introducing a boundary treatment to enclose the site until such time it is developed.”
The rest of February went, March came and went, April came and is almost gone. So where’s the fence?
John was also promised action in an email from managing director John Holden.
In it, Mr Holden said: “I can confirm that we are presently arranging for a suitable enclosure to be erected and secure further the existing buildings on site.”
No more promises, Charles Church, just action. Build the fence.
