THERE are times when I can’t decide whether to give a thumbs up or a thumbs down.
This is one of those occasions, so I will simply tell the story and let readers decide for themselves.
Suzanne Stephenson asked for my help over the installation of a bathroom.
She said DJM Bathrooms wanted payment in full before finishing the job.
However, Suzanne, of Forest Hall, North Tyneside, said the bath was marked.
She also said her ceiling needed redecorating after a leak caused by fitters.
But DJM were only prepared to repaint part of the ceiling.
She said: “They want the balance of £2874 but I am reluctant to pay because the work is incomplete. They have reduced the price to cover the damaged bath but the offer will be withdrawn unless the final bill is paid by a deadline.”
I spoke to Mark Harris, of DJM Bathrooms, North Shields, North Tyneside.
He said scratches on the bath had been polished out but the customer maintained she could still see them.
And he claimed it was not necessary to repaint the whole ceiling to cover a water mark.
There was a change in the situation following my intervention.
Suzanne paid the vast majority of the remaining balance.
And DJM agreed to provide a new bath and repaint the whole of the ceiling to ensure a colour match.
