Tenant hopeful in row over repairs

Thumbs up

A TENANT who lost a complaint about a housing group’s repairs policy may win in the long term.

Thomas McGee took his complaint about a Derwentside Homes’ policy — which said tenants could choose only two rooms to be redecorated — to the ombudsman, but lost.

Thomas, of Blackhill, County Durham, said: "This has been going on for two years and I want it sorted once and for all."

Chief executive Geraldine Wilcox said: "The ombudsman said we did nothing wrong because we followed our procedures. However, we are looking to review the policy to see if it is at the appropriate level."

No promises there, but it is a step in the right direction.
