IT’S good to talk to your mates on the mobile . . . as long as mum is footing the bill!
But teenager Craig Stubley, 18, was silenced when his long chats on the phone led to a bill for £321.
Mum Dorothy pulled the plug and tried to cancel the contract . . . only to find she had to pay a cancellation fee of £472.
Dorothy, of Elswick, Newcastle, said: “Craig’s bill was so much I took the phone off him and cancelled the contract.
“Vodafone said there was a cancellation fee of £472. I agreed to pay the monthly bill but I refused to pay the cancellation fee because it is so outrageous.
“They are insisting I pay because the 30-day cancellation period was over.
“But how can you know what’s happening when your first bill comes in after 30 days?”
I passed the complaint to Vodafone, where a spokesman agreed to investigate. She said: “I will be asking our team to look into this as a matter of urgency.”
Dorothy later told me the cancellation fee had been waived.
