HAPPY birthday to new pensioner Norman Gibson after he needed a helping hand getting ready for his retirement.
Norman, 65, of Hetton- le-Hole, Tyne and Wear, told me he was waiting for the necessary forms to claim his private pension from Pearl Assurance.
He said: “Can you help me make progress getting my retirement annuity pension?
“They were supposed to send a form but it has not arrived, despite two phone calls asking what was happening.”
And, adding to Norman’s problems, the Department of Works and Pensions said they needed details about the company pension before they could make the final arrangements for his state pension.
I passed his complaint to Pearl, who agreed to investigate. A spokeswoman said: “I will be aiming to complete my investigation and send Mr Gibson a reply within 10 working days.”
Norman later told me the missing form had been received and completed. He said: “Thank you for your help.”
