Cash offer for carpet quarrel

A COUPLE’S complaint over two faulty carpets has finally been decided.
George and Susan Hurrell said a lounge carpet and stair carpet were both faulty.
At one point the couple, of Bedlington, Northumberland, were happy to accept replacements.
But they have accepted a cash compensation to live with the faults.
Susan said: “At first we wanted the carpets replaced. You would think that would be a simple matter, but it dragged on and on without satisfaction.”
I passed the complaint to Carpetright who initially offered a choice of options, including £300 cash.
The couple asked me to have another go and the offer was increased.
A spokesman said: “Mrs Hurrell has agreed to accept £500 in full and final settlement of the whole issue.
“I am getting this raised and sent out to her by cheque by the end of this week.”
