See Tickets website keeps fees

A TICKET company is flouting Office of Fair Trading guidance on refunds, I can reveal.

See Tickets refuses to return booking fees on gigs that have been cancelled.

Punters can get the cover price back but not the charges.

Yet the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) says customers should not have to pay.

Watchdogs consider the practice unfair.

I discovered what happened after looking into a complaint from sales assistant Caroline Cazaly.

Caroline had paid £100 each for two tickets to the Elton John concert at Newcastle Arena last year.

She also paid a £9 booking fee and a £2.25 postage/transaction fee on each seat.

The gig was cancelled when Elton became ill and will not be rescheduled.

Caroline was refunded the cover price spent on the tickets but not the additional fees.

She has given See Tickets a rocket after discovering other ticket companies refunded booking fees for the same event.

Caroline said: “It’s ridiculous. The concert did not go ahead so why should I have to pay anything at all?

“I think it is disgraceful they don’t give a full refund of all money paid. It’s not my fault the concert was cancelled.
