Couple caught in a bracelet dispute

A BROKEN token sparked a difference of opinion between a customer and jeweller.

David Robinson bought the white gold bracelet for his girlfriend.

But it broke on her wrist during a birthday dinner after an hour.

The big question – and one I don’t have an answer for – is why it happened.

David thinks it was faulty but the jeweller thinks it was caught on something.

David, of Normanby, Middlesbrough, said: “I rejected the bracelet under the Sale of Goods Act. I sent a letter on the advice of trading standards using recorded delivery but I have not heard anything.”

The bracelet was bought at Market Jeweller, of Dovecot Street, Stockton.

A spokeswoman said she did not believe there was any manufacturing fault involved in the product.

She said: “Years of experience tell me it has been caught.”

She said David had turned down an offer to repair the bracelet.
