A CONSERVATORY company has offered to do a £240 repair free of charge for a reader.
Paramount Windows and Conservatories agreed to do the work for George Brogan, of Ellington, Northumberland.
George had called me in when cement under the tiles of a porch repeatedly broke away and smashed into a window sill.
He said the problems only started after Paramount installed a roof line a few years ago.
George said: “I had the porch for 20 years without a bit of bother until Paramount took part of the cement out to fit a roof line.
“Since then some of the cement has come out twice in the last five years.
“On the first occasion it was replaced free of charge, but this time they are charging £240 plus VAT to fix it.
“I do not think I should have to pay as I had no problems before they did the work.”
I asked Graham Jenney, installations director of the Cramlington-based company, what he could do.
He said: “Our customer has been informed that the damage reported is outside the period of guarantee and as such we were not wrong in advising him of the price to repair.
“However, I was unaware that the pointing on the gable had already been completed at no charge. In an effort to maintain good customer relations we will contact Mr Brogan to repair the sill at no cost.”
