THERE'S an old saying that shy bairns get nowt. Paul Lynn certainly wasn't shy when he asked for more compensation from lenders Phoenix.
They offered £50 compensation because they had contributed to delays in paying off a mortgage endowment policy.
Director of communications Daniel Godfrey told me: “We accept we were responsible for some of the delays in this case.
“We will pay Mr Lynn late-payment interest on the maturity value plus a payment in recognition of the inconvenience caused.”
Paul said the £50 was not enough.
I got back to Daniel, and had better news.
He said: “We’ve re-opened the files and asked someone else to take a fresh look.
“We have come to the conclusion that although £50 was pretty standard for this kind of case we could justify up to £100 and I have asked for an additional cheque to be sent to Mr Lynn.”
