NEED furniture repairs carried out free of charge? No sweat.
Brian Hindmarch told me how marks on his leather suite, under two years old, were blamed on sweat.
He disagreed with the suggested cause of the marks and asked furniture retailers DFS to re-seal the leather.
The repair was carried out but the leather was still tacky after three days. Brian, of Spenny- moor, County Durham, was quoted £120 to put the repair right.
He said: “I told DFS that I was unwilling to pay for what I considered to be a repair that went wrong.
“There seems to be two opinions at DFS depending on who you talk to.
“One person said the attempt to repair the marks had made things worse and another said that I would have to pay for a second repair.”
I passed Brian’s complaint to DFS where I was told: “We will investigate this.”
Brian later said part of the suite had been replaced – rather than repaired – and he did not have to pay a penny.
