Wedding band pay up after failing to turn up

IT was a long time coming but Heather and David Thompson have finally got a refund from the band which failed to turn up at their wedding last year.

The couple had booked Soul Reason for their reception, but the musicians cancelled three days before.

The couple, of Ryton, Gateshead, spent the next year trying to get their £50 deposit returned, but Heather said emails and phone calls were left unanswered.

I first highlighted the case in August when I spoke to lead singer Guy Adams. Guy, who had taken the booking, admitted cancelling the gig for personal reasons. He said at the time: “I have made a profuse apology to Heather for what happened and said I wanted to resolve it as soon as possible. I said I will send a full refund.”

He said he had moved out of the area and no longer performed with the band.

August turned into September, and then October, and the cheque finally arrived on my desk. Guy said the delay was down to waiting until he had enough money in the bank.
