RAC working to resolve complaint

THE RAC has agreed to take a fresh look at a complaint from a motorist who accused them of causing £1,250 damage to her car’s engine.

I revealed a few weeks ago how Lisa Bartle, pictured, claimed the motoring organisation caused the damage after she called them out.

She wants the money to cover the cost of a new engine after the incident.

Bosses admit they would have handled her call-out differently with the benefit of hindsight.

I highlighted the case a few weeks ago when Lisa, of Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, said she was advised to drive her car after a patrolman topped it up with oil when a warning light appeared.

She said the advice went against what she had been told by a Renault expert. She said: “It turned out I needed a whole new engine and, if I had not driven, I would just have needed a new turbo.”

Lisa has now provided receipts to the RAC following my story.

Spokesman John Franklin told me: “This is certainly one for the long haul. We have now received the garage invoices from Mrs Bartle which are now with our technical team to confirm our position regarding liability.

“Communication is on-going with Mrs Bartle and I will let you know when the situation is concluded.

“Unfortunately due to the technical nature of the issue it is taking a bit of time to resolve.

“However all parties are working hard to come to a satisfactory conclusion.”
