TV repair issue has happy outcome

AN electrics retailer charged Linda Bullock £100 to fix a TV – and asked for another £226.

Linda, of Lobley Hill, Gateshead, told me how she had bought a top-of-the-range set from Currys.

It broke down six months out of warranty and she was asked to pay £100 for the repair.

She said: “We were told it would take about 10 days but it took much longer.

“When I checked what was happening I was told it was being fixed and would be within budget.

“But just a few days later I was told it was not fixed and they wanted more money.

“I understand we had a 12-month warranty, and was willing to pay something, but feel they have asked for too much.”

I passed her complaint to Currys head office where a spokeswoman promised to investigate.

I was later told: “We are sorry that Mrs Bullock has had issues with the TV. We have now repaired the TV free of charge and she is very happy with this.”
