Cash-strapped charity turns to health bosses

THE founder of an autism charity which is battling a cash crisis is calling upon health bosses to fund a specialist nurse to help keep their service open.

The Toby Henderson Trust, in Northumberland, has provided support for more than 1200 families and children with autism since launching six years ago, yet in March its founder Lesley Henderson said they could be forced to close.

The mum-of-four now has plans to approach Northumberland County Council to ask for help, giving her more time to devote to fundraising.

She said: “We want a specialist nursery nurse to come in, so we are putting together a bid. It’s desperately needed.”

To make a donation visit the trust’s website at www.ttht.co.uk or send donations to The Toby Henderson Trust, Whitehouse Farm Centre, Stannington, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 6AW.
