COPS are investigating a vicious assault filmed and posted on the internet after the Sunday Sun alerted them to the vile video.
The sinister clip shows a gang of youths attacking a young man in the West End of Newcastle.
The six-minute video was filmed from a distance and shows a lone youth standing outside Fenham’s Wine Seller on Beaconsfield Street, Arthur’s Hill.
Soon he is set upon by a young man backed up by two other youths.
The pair trade punches until the victim takes refuge in a shop doorway.
At this point, a hooded accomplice of the attacker, who at first appeared to try and separate the pair, wrestles the young man out into the street and punches him in the face.
Police say they are looking at the video as part of their investigation.
Northumbria Police Inspector Dave Tennant said: “Police were called at 9.40pm on April 21 to an anonymous report of a fight in Beaconsfield Street. Enquiries at the scene failed to produce any witnesses.
“If the clip provides us with any investigative opportunities we will follow those up and we would encourage anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.”
A gloating comment posted on the video’s YouTube page by a user called “Sparkszkiie” reads “Go on Wade son f*** him haha.”
Several sickening videos from the North, including the “Milton Road Fight Club” in Hartlepool and a brutal fist fight between a Sunderland and Newcastle fan have been posted on the site.
Despite being flagged as offensive, some of the videos have been on YouTube for more than a year.
