Serial sex pest, 40, locked up

A SEXUAL predator who molested and flashed at girls as young as nine in beauty spots has been jailed indefinitely.

Alan Ginnever touched his victims, tried to pull off their clothes, exposed himself and made lewd remarks in the Castle Eden Walkway area of Stockton, Teesside, over a 21-month period, a court heard.

Judge Tony Briggs said the self-employed plasterer from Billingham targeted vulnerable victims . . . mostly girls aged nine to 15.

He said Ginnever, 40, travelled to “lonely isolated positions with no help immediately to hand”, and enjoyed at least one victim’s alarm and discomfort.

He denied four sexual assaults and three charges of exposure, but was unanimously convicted by a jury after a five-day trial.

Two days after the verdicts, he confessed to two of the offences after his own partner told him she would have convicted him of those crimes if she had been on the jury. He still denies the rest.

Ginnever was given an indefinite sexual offences prevention order, was banned from working with children and will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
