PEOPLE got a chance to witness lost skills from yesteryear at Beamish Museum yesterday.
Visitors to the County Durham attraction watched as fields were ploughed in a traditional manner.
Tractors were shunned in favour of impressive heavy horses pulling ploughs under the direction of expert enthusiasts.
The spectacle was part of the annual Beamish ploughing match and country crafts weekend, aimed at providing a showcase for traditional arts and skills which may otherwise die out.
And for the first time ever, so many people have entered the competition that the event has had to stretch itself over two days, meaning the final will be held today.
