DJ gets Tigger tattoo for charity

NOTHING is tattoo much for DJ Steve Colman when it comes to raising cash for charity.

The MAGIC 1152 presenter had a picture of his childhood hero Tigger etched on his backside to raise money for the Cash for Kids appeal.

Popular breakfast show host Steve was inspired to act when he heard fellow Magic 1152 DJ Dave Lee Travis had given away his Cadillac in a fundraiser for the same charity.

With his 10-year-old Alfa Romeo unlikely to raise more than laughs, big-hearted Steve decided he would have to sacrifice a bit of his body for the cause.

He set listeners a challenge . . . if they raised £1000 he would ride out the pain and get the cartoon character tattooed on his bum.

When the listeners rose to the occasion, Steve made the journey to Ossie’s Tattoo Surgery in Byker, Newcastle, where Ossie himself was waiting with needle in hand.

Steve said: “I honestly wasn’t nervous until I got into the chair. I was told beforehand that getting a tattoo done would feel ‘like a scratch’, but that’s an understatement. I think my listeners think I’m a bit crazy but it couldn’t be for a more worthy cause.”

The Cash for Kids charity raises money to help underprivileged and disabled children facing financial, emotional and physical challenges.
