Offenders honour fallen
A GROUP of offenders have been carrying out their own act of remembrance this week . . . by cleaning up war graves at a parish church.
The lads cleared weeds around the tombstones at St Michael and All Angels Church in Newburn, Newcastle, in the week leading up to today’s Remembrance Sunday.
One offender, Joe, from Newcastle, said: “Cleaning up the war graves at the church was without question the most worthwhile project I’ve completed.
“I really felt I was putting something back into the community. We achieved a lot for such a worthy cause.”
The clean-up was organised by Northumbria Probation Service.
