Miss Sunday Sun Amy Elliott takes first shots at big time

Miss Sunday Sun Amy Elliott

NEWLY crowned Miss Sunday Sun 2008 Amy Elliott has taken what she hopes are the first steps towards conquering the world of modelling.

The 18-year-old, who has taken over the title from Cheryl Davison, has just received her first official portfolio and is hoping that work will start flooding in.

It was completed during a five-hour photo shoot with professional fashion photographer Mark Wilson.

The session was just part of the prize that Amy received for winning the contest. In addition to the portfolio, the South Tyneside resident won £1000 and a year-long contract with AM Models.

Amy, who is studying applied biology at Newcastle University, said: “I really enjoyed putting the pictures together for the portfolio. I had a lot of fun although some of the shots we did outside were a bit cold.”

Since winning the contest back in October, Amy has started being recognised when she is out and about. She explained: “A few people at university have recognised me after seeing the article about me in the paper.”

And the teen beauty is hoping that, now she has her portfolio completed, her profile will increase still further. She said: “I haven’t had any work yet but that’s because my pictures haven’t been ready.

“They have gone online this week, so hopefully things will start to come in soon. I am told the time just before Christmas can be a bit quiet as all the Christmas magazines have already been done so it could be next year before I get my first paying work.”

AM Models boss Leah Wilson said: “Amy potentially has a good future. She is young and has really good posture, she’s very graceful and she’s got good skin and a lovely smile. At the moment she could play a student, businesswoman or doing work promoting the region as a tourist destination.”
