ACTOR Tom Chambers was last night crowned Strictly Come Dancing 2008 champion.
The former Holby City star pipped favourite Rachel Stevens to the title following a public vote.
The pair went head to head after third finalist Lisa Snowdon was earlier voted off.
The three and their professional partners all made it through to last night’s final following a controversial decision to ignore the public votes last week.
In the first round of voting in the final Stevens and Snowdon were in the top two positions on judges scores.
Snowdon scored a maximum 80 points putting her in first place but she failed to impress the public whose votes account for 50 per cent of the points available.
As votes were being counted Welsh pop star Duffy entertained the audience with her latest single and was supported by 24-year-old identical twins Stephanie and Charlotte Walker from Lanchester, County Durham.
