How the funding works
THE two forms of care provision, NHS Fully Funded Continuing Healthcare and NHS-funded Nursing Care date back to 2007.
Although its name gives the impression it’s a free service, families with NHS-funded Nursing Care will often have to meet some costs. All patients are assessed by a registered nurse and the assessor calculates the amount of care that can be classed as “nursing care” when someone is in a care home.
NHS Fully Funded Continuing Healthcare is free of charge and fully funded because, essentially, the assessor decides the patient would die without such care.
