MP defends flight to Africa for peace talk

“I sat down with people like Sinn Fein and the IRA and sat down with Loyalist former terrorists in Northern Ireland.

“I did that because I thought it was the right and proper thing to do to talk to people about trying to find ways of putting things right.

“I made it very, very clear to them, I don’t sign up to their religious beliefs or anybody else’s for that matter.

Mr Anderson said many senior leaders were at the Kenya conference.

Frank Cook spent five days in Asia last April with the UPF.

The House of Commons’ register of members’ interests shows Mr Cook’s economy class fare and accommodation were all paid for by Universal Peace Federation.

It may have been a business trip but he still decided take his partner.

The register states: “I paid for my own flight upgrade and all my wife’s travelling costs.”

Last night, Mr Cook was unavailable for comment.
