“I love going to St James’s . . . there’s no atmosphere like it anywhere in the world.
“When Local Hero starts blasting as the teams come out and there’s 52,000 Geordies roaring their heads off it’s magic.
“My family has always supported Newcastle United as far back as I know.
“You couldn’t get much closer to the club than my Grandma’s family. She was born and brought up in the shadow of St James’s in a street called Swan Street, which was knocked down later to extend the breweries.
“She and her seven brothers used to bunk each other over the walls of St James’s on match days and sneak in for free.”
For the past two years, Graham’s commercials have been used to advertise Premier League matches, cup matches, pre-season friendlies, retail promotions, club competitions and new kit launches.
He said: “When I speak to people about what we do, they’re quite surprised that it’s my voice on the commercials and that they’re produced locally.
“I guess they must think that everything is done by London agencies, not right on their doorstep here in Newcastle.”
Head of customer operations at NUFC, Simon Esland, said: “The radio commercials have been very successful.
“Our fans have become accustomed to the familiar tones on the airwaves so it seemed like a natural progression to have Get Carter produce messages for our telephone system.”
