GEORDIE rock star Sting could be poised for a return to the big screen.
The Wallsend-born musician is rumoured to have been lined up to star in a film written by his close pal Simon Astaire.
The former teacher last hit the screen in Guy Ritchie’s gangster movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998.
But now the 58-year-old is being linked to the part of a strict headteacher in a movie based on Astaire’s successful debut book Private Privilege.
Based in the 1970s, the book tells the story of Samuel Alexander’s experience at a public school.
It is described as a heady mix of old-school values such as the “fag” system, with new cultures, including drugs and football hooliganism.
Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, has plenty of pedigree after making his acting debut in the 1979 British movie Quadrophenia.
And, as a former teacher, he could be perfect for the role.
