TV golden couple back Walk for Justice march

Tim Healy and Denise Welch in Waterloo Road

TV GOLDEN couple Denise Welch and Tim Healy have revealed plans to help murder victims’ families fight for justice.

The husband and wife stars of BBC’s Waterloo Road, are hoping to take part in an organised march calling for stiffer sentences for murderers.

The Walk for Justice march will be held in Newcastle and will be one of 14 across the UK organised by those who believe life should mean life for murderers.

Currently, a “life” term for adults is approximately 15 years and juveniles 12 years.

But the real sentence handed out by the courts can be considerably less.

They are also able to win reductions by not misbehaving while behind bars.

Denise said: “This is the type of thing both Tim and I support, so we will be planning to go.

“But we will have to check our work schedule because things can change very quickly.”

The march is on March 28, and starts at noon from Grey’s Monument before heading to the Quayside.

The marchers will then gather at Gateshead’s Baltic for a rally.
