Dancers hope for big break

BREAKDANCERS battled it out on the dancefloor yesterday as spectators packed in to Northumbria University to watch crews from all over the UK perform well-practiced routines.

And the dancers did not disappoint as they put on a show of head spins, body- popping and moves a gymnast would be proud of.

The room bounced to the beats from a live band and DJ in The Venue, at the university’s student union in Newcastle. Crews competed throughout the day, with the winner of each round chosen by a panel of three professional breakdancers.

Newcastle University student Chris Clark, 29, from Consett, County Durham, said: “The talent gets better and better every year.”
