Also high on his list of plans is running the forthcoming Great North Run — his fifth in a row — and he also plans to run the Chicago Marathon in aid of cancer charities, together with Stu Wheatman, of Newcastle, who will publish Charlie’s revealing autobiography, Slimmer Charlie, at Tonto Books in October.
Charlie said: "Chicago will be a big challenge for me but my outlook is you don’t have to be super thin or fit to take part.

Stu added: "It would great to take part in the Chicago Marathon.

"If a North company could come forward and lend us some support it would be fantastic."
