POLICE have launched a hunt for a sex attacker who subjected a teenager to a vicious assault.
The 18-year-old woman was approached after she got out of a taxi in North Tyneside.
The attacker spoke to her before taking her to an isolated field to carry out his sickening assault.
The attack happened in Burradon in North Tyneside on Friday at around 8pm.
Police are hoping that because the attack happened relatively early in the evening there will be witnesses who may have seen the man they want to question.
Yesterday people in the tight-knit former mining village spoke of their shock at the incident.
One 21-year-old mum-of-two, who didn’t want to be named but lives near where the attack happened, said: “It’s shocking for that to happen near our house.
“It sounds like a terrifying thing to happen, I hope the police catch whoever did this. It’s a close-knit community here and a few people have been talking about it.”
The assault took place on Burradon Road.
